The Value of HR Certification
As an HR Professional, you can take it to the next level by obtaining your PHR®, SPHR® and GPHR® certification. HR Certification through the HR Certification Institute is a professional achievement that shows your fellow HR Professionals, as well as others in the community that you have a broader understanding of the HR field, business practices, policies and procedures that professionals are expected to know.
For more than 33 years, the HR Certification Institute has been the internationally recognized leader in HR Certification and has been certifying HR Professionals by testing key knowledge areas such as strategic planning, international business issues, compensation and benefits, HR development, employee rights, and emerging HR issues.
HR Certification Preparation
Several times throughout the year, KCSHRM in partnership with California State University, Bakersfield (CSUB), offer Certification Preparation courses. As an added value of KCSHRM membership, KCSHRM and national SHRM members receive discounts towards preparation courses.
Additionally, SHRM has a Learning System for HR Certification preparation.

This certification augments the PHR® and SPHR® certifications with a focus of
California specific HR knowledge.
Recertification
HR Certification Institute requires all certificate holders to recertify every three years. For recertification you need to accumulate 60 credit hours of HR-related continuing education or activities or you can take the exam again.
To recertify through continuing education, all activities must be completed before the three-year anniversary of your certification cycle and HR-related. Most KCSHRM programs including the annual symposium offer HR Certification Institute approved educational credits.
